Does it also mean no more USA flag underpants or is it just restricted to burning the flag?

Quite agree it is against freedom but it is a law in many parts of the world.

I did think that the citizens of the USA were very proud of their flag as a symbol ( patriotic flag raising etc ) so actually I am surprised so many people against this law previously.

I wouldn't vote for this as a law but deep down I do feel upset when I see the British flag burnt/disrepected.

Made me think!

I think most of us are proud of our flag, but I think we should have the freedom to burn it if we choose. I'm not really for the burning of the flag but some people might be. To make a statement or for whatever reason. That should be there right. I can think of a lot of worse things people could do to get there message across.

Here's the thing of it: can't burn the flag, check... Got that. Can I scorch it? Pee on it? Make underwear out of it? Are boxers OK but crotchless panties a no-no?

It gets sort of ridiculous, when it comes right down to it. I don't think a law like this is reasonable. Anytime you forbid some specific action, you by extension, in many people's minds, condone all actions not specifically forbidden. Just ask DPC members who run afoul of our advanced editing rules because they made that assumption.

So make a law prohibiting "disrespect of flag"; that's clear, right? Uh uh... Same problem. Where do you draw the line and who draws it?

Bottom line; in a free society, we have to choose not to be anal about people who abuse their freedoms. It's one of the prices we pay.

Robt.
