I think my husband must have found this on the web, because it was at the top of our favorites link when I sat down here today. This is the photo I took for my Feb. 14, PaD - a Valentine for my hubby. I wanted to try this that I had seen on dpc and elsewhere. The site is in French, so I don't even know what it says about it. It does, apparently, have my name credited with the pic. Any suggestions or knowledge of what this site appears to be would be appreciated.

Maybe someone here can translate the page for you. Also, you may try to e-mail the person running the page and talk to them about where they got it. |

well at least the blogger credited you :)
and for the translation. You could try //world.altavista.com/
It comes up with some weird crap at times. Worth a shot though

I briefly looked at it. My French is not that good but I did determine that it is a blog.
Click on 'â€Âº Plus d'infos sur moi' (More info about me) to get to the bio page. If you want to send an email the email link is at the bottom of that page. (M'écrire un e-mail) (Write me an email)

If you copy and paste the URl into google search, then it will ask if you want to translate the page and once you click yes it will open the page translated to english.
Here is copy and paste of the first paragraph:
KAHINA
Kahina is the name of the Queen of Aurès, it symbolizes courage, resistance and the intelligence. I will be the guide of your voyage via which I will pay homage to the women of my country, these women who suffer and shout in silence... Welcome thus in my kingdom!

It's a blog. It looks like the person came across the photo online and liked it so they posted it on their blog to show family/friends that visit it. I wouldn't be overly concerned in this instance, especially since they credited your name and aren't trying to pass it off as their own. Be flattered that they liked it.
[ edit ] On further inspection it looks like a photo blog. He/She post interesting photos and illustrations they run across online. Pretty harmless.
Now if it was being used for commercial purposes...

Well, I'm french and I have looked at the page, just to have an idea of what it's about. It's actually a blog on which the author puts all the photos he or she likes, among other things. I guess you can write her/him if you want your photo removed. Anyway, I don't think she/he wanted to do any harm, she/he just liked you photo and saved it :) which should be a compliment for you ! |

I usually don't have a problem with others using my photos for simply sharing or because they like them. I just think it should be common courtesy to ask...my email is posted on any site where my photos appear. I'm not overly concerned, just wish folks would ask.
I guess I also don't want it to appear that the idea on this particular photo was mine. It states on my PAD site that it was inspired from other's shots, but that disclaimer doesn't appear of course on the blog site.
Thanks for the help! |

The flipside of this is that a blog is typically a spontaneous snapshot of someone's day. Kinda like "ooh, look what I just found". Emailing for permission would kill that vibe.

Judy,,,,,,this is what the french text says:
Kahina is the name of the queen of the Aures and she symbolizes courage, resistance and intelligence. I will be the guide during your voyage, through which I will render hommage to the women of my country, those women who suffer and weep in silence... Welcome to my kingdom.
I do hope this helps your somewhat. From my perspective, it does seem innocent enough, other than the fact that this individual did not have the common courtesy to approach you prior to using your image.

It turns out your hubby is actually a French spy leading a double life, and you're his American cover. This is his Blog which he uses to communicate with his French superiors. It's a testament to the shoddy spy-work that the French do, typical.
Haven't you ever noticed how he always gets an order of French fries at McDonald's, or gets a bowl of French onion soup as an appetizer when you go to fancy restaurants? Judy, I'm afraid your hubby has been pulling the laines (that's French for wool, btw) over your eyes for 24 years. I'm glad I saw this post so I could help you discover his clandestine operations. I've called the FBI and they will pick up your hubby for questioning shortly.
And French bread, what's up with that? It's mostly crust & when you take a bite you get crumbs all over your shirt! Typical French.

Based on this he's also impersonating a woman.
