This image gave me an idea for a challenge. Why not have a challenge to recreate poses from either famous photos or famous people or just plain ole portrait shots that have become famous for one reason or another?
Sure, the Einstein one this appears to "mock" was also a Snapshot moment. I think it would be fun to see what we all could come up with... |

Probably too limiting. Most pictures of famous people are them just standing there looking like they're having their picture taken. The shot of Saint Albert with his tongue out is an oddity. How many memorable shots of Churchill or Eleanor Roosevelt can you think of - off hand? |

What about recreations of historical events and not to limit to poses but actually events in history and how good is your imagination to create an image for an event that doesn't have an image? or recreate one. Doesn't have to be serious could be comical. how about that?

I can think of a few poses that are in photos:
James Dean leaning back with one foot crossed over the other, with a cigarrete in hand.
Elvis, in his Kung Fu Jumpsuit pose.
Marlon Brando sitting on a motorcycle with his chin up, from one of hie earliest films.
I could think of more, but pressed for time, the image I posted and the three I suggested are a few quick ones to recall.

Also limits the voter's knowledge. To be totally honest I dont immediately think of Einstein looking at your image. There would also be cultural issues and arguments over the definition of famous. A famous Icelander may not even be known by an American etc. |

With that you're leaning towards the past challenge "Movie Title" i think it was called.

The setup shot of the couple kissing on a street in Paris, the passerbys reacted in a very natural way, because they weren't in on the pose one bit.
The covers of several record jackets; The Beatles, 'Abbey Road'. Nirvana, 'Nevermind'. There are often very famous poses on them. |

Limiting the voter's knowledge is a very common thing. There is that language barrier many of us enjoy.
For instance, the word "lift" means one thing in the US and another in the UK.
A request could be that the images are titled the name of the original photo.

This one, you mean!
Generational thing, I guess - "Abbey Road" I know, of course, but I don't think I would recognise any Nirvana album covers.

Exactly.
There's tons of famous poses and pictures that many people have seen and if people name their images in tribue to the name associated to the original, then it could be a nifty challenge.
Anyway, just an idea. |

album covers might not be a bad idea! Like someone suggested, the Beatles and lots of other groups have really interesting photos on their covers.
Or....just create your own!
I think that would be kind of neat. |

There already was an Album cover challenge. (Almost 6 months? ago)
I am just thinking about a good "Copy your favorite posed portrait or other Photograph" challenge". |

Well, there's also Leifur EirÃÂksson, though I don't think there are many photographs of him. ;-)

Speaking of Nirvana's "Nevermind" album cover, here's 'Weird Al' Yankovic's "Off the Deep End" album cover. ;-)
