Wowowowowowow, I am so unbelievably over the moon!
The Guardian Online are paying me to be their photographer for the Glastonbury Festival! I approached them a year ago with last year's photos and they expressed an interest at the time in hiring me for 2005. Winning tickets for this year's festival in the official photo competition organised by the festival helped, and now the Guardian have organised for those to be bumped up to backstage tickets. I've also been sending some articles I've written to show them that I'm keen.
If you're not from the UK, you may not be aware how big a deal this is... but this is THE media circus to be involved with each year. This could really launch my career big time. I'll be using the Guardian marquee provided with electricity and a phone line to update the website with up-to-the-minute photos. To be working for the Guardian is just unbelievable! |

I do use a... what do you call them... hair curtain? It's a transparent one from a hotel, might come in very useful! |

Seeing this (well done by the way) prompted me to go and look at the bill. I see Nik Turner is appearing on the world stage. I didn't know he'd survived this long.
Hayseed Dixie sound to be a whole lotta fun (feeble joke there).

I don't feel the need to congratulate you.
The world has simply restored it's natural balance. Things are as they should be. The Grauniad have simply realised what the rest of us already knew ...
Oh stuff it. Well done Bob! This is awesome. Here's hoping it really is just the beginning : )

Hugely pleased for you Bob - just hope these thunderstorms don't hang around all weekend, all you'll just be getting mud-fest shots (not to mention water-in-camera fear).
For everyone else, after the BBC site, the Guardian on-line is the most read and respected UK news site - and the Guardian is sponsoring this year's festival. This really is a major coup for Bob.
Really happy for you mate.

Congrats Bob, sounds like a fun event to work for.
We have a small event here in Munich called Tollwood on at the moment. I wonder if they are similar. |

It's not really Glastonbury without rain and mud. Besides I'm sure that will make for even more interesting pics! |

I can feel the excitement all the way across the pond here in the States. That lineup, the event, the paper everything is first rate. Great experience and resume builder, and in a different way, inspiration for all of us aspiring for bigger things. I am sure you will give us the full details or classic stories. Keep sharing!
