Canon 20D + Tamron SP 17-35mm XR Di...

Coronado bridge shot one misty moring...trying to play on the feel of the bridge disappearing into the mist. Felt like a strong image to me but perhaps I went a little dark?

I don't think it's too dark at all. I can still (on my monitor) see plenty of detail in the near part of the bridge and see it disappearing into the mist.

** Slight Bump **

But also I'd like to take this opportunity to point out why it is important to me to use sites outside of DPC for alternate perspectives of shots.

The short of it is around here we receive fixes for the shots we submit...Not a whole lot more as we are voting on 500+ entries and trying to pacify the why me threads in the forums. There is not a lot of time left to go into detail on each of the individual requests made.

Outside of here where viewers don't always have cameras, viewers tend not to know what is really wrong with a shot but tell you what they would like to see differently... and many times they go on to tell you what their take on the shot is. This is quite beneficial as I don't really have a set agenda when I go out and shot, I see things and I shoot em.

This shot here is an example of the helpful viewer...I saw a bridge disappearing into the mist, I knew I liked the barbed wire (didn't know why) and that was how deep I was when I shot it. I posted it on one of the other sites...

A commenter there stated the it Represented A contrast between Imprisonment (barbed wire) and Freedom (curved bridge fading into the distance) to them. Woah thats heavy, Sheesh it was a Bridge in the Fog to me, but now that I look at it...It is no longer a Bridge in the Fog.

Whoa, that is pretty enlightened. hey, share that persons name so we can run a few by them. We can all benefit from a deeper meaning in our shots.

After reading that I took another look at your shot and it had a whole different impact on me. Just goes to show you that what you name your shot can be almost as improtant as how good it is.

I think you got the right idea with your image. Here's one I did a while back.

If darkness is your only concern then I'd suggest that you add an overlay layer checked for 50% grey, set your brush opacity to 10% and mode to 'lighten' and brush over the darker areas to suit your taste.

It will very nicely bring out the detail in the darkened underbelly of the bridge without looking washed out. You already have a good black point set.
