OK ... so I'm looking at the Darkness top 10, and an image states that it was airbrushed. Is that allowed in Basic?

Sharpening and noise filters are allowed as long as they're applied to the whole image, and not a part of it. As it is, the photograph in question was a top-5, so proof must have been requested.

# Spot-Editing: Absolutely no spot-editing is allowed. This includes, but is not limited to drawing tools, dodging/burning tools, and cloning tools. Additionally, the use of any type of selection tool is prohibited except to select a non-feathered, non-anti-aliased rectangular area for cropping.
On the image in question it states that some spots in the image were airbrushed out...
Thats selective editing and NOT basic editing surely (i like the image and all, but whats the point in having rules if they mean nothing? :-) |

The rule says...
Spot-Editing: Absolutely no spot-editing is allowed. This includes, but is not limited to drawing tools, dodging/burning tools, and cloning tools. Additionally, the use of any type of selection tool is prohibited except to select a non-feathered, non-anti-aliased rectangular area for cropping.
I would think that means using an airbrush is a no-no.
D'oh! dr3amz beat me to it.

The challenge ended less than 24 hours ago -- give the SC time to request proof, for the proof to be submitted, and the SC to vote on it.
Although, I will suggest again that instead of waiting until the challenge is over for the top five to be validated, the top entries could be validated during the voting.
What I had in mind was, starting at the end of the 2nd day of voting, request validation for the currently top scoring image that has not previously been validated. By the end of the challenge, most of the top five will have had proof requested and likely validated without significantly adding to the SC's workload.
But in any event, give the current system a chance to work.
