Well, a few months back I submitted my "visual poetry"  at picture.com. Later on I found a thread here about picture.com site that put me off and I didn't look back at website.
Anywayz, to my surprise, today I received a "second place commemorative bronze coin" in mail with a letter congratulating me.
Not sure what to think of it with conflicting thougths arising from the dpc thread... I choose to be happy anyway :)

Congrats, there seems to be a lot of good news for DPCers around today

Well Congrats - though to be honest I wouldn't be particularly comfortable submitting a deja vu entry anywhere else but dpc, unless it was sufficiently different from the original. - not sure whether you did or not, but I'd advise at least crediting the original shooter. But hey, that's just me.
As for picture.com, I've never checked it out, but hey, if they actually send you stuff in the mail it can't be that bad :). |

Picture.Com isn't actually a scam.. per se..
Winning images *DO* get the prizes.. it's just that, if you *don't* win, (and maybe even if you do), you get hounded for the rest of your life to attend "ceremonial banquets" or purchase space in photo/poetry books, etc., etc., etc.
I sent a photo to them a few years ago, and *STILL* get emails.. even though I've never contacted them back. lol. I think the only reason I don't get actual mail anymore is that I've moved so many times.

When I buy a house in the future, one thing I'll ask the original owners is "Have you ever been on picture.com?"

| picture.com gives EVERYONE a second place win. The fun thing to do is enter a really crappy image and you still win. It isn't a scam, but they sure know how to get people to buy their VERY expensive coffee table books.. |
