I was hopping to get a little feedback on this cover I designed for my vacation photo cd/dvd. I pulled a few pictures from that trip and this is what I came up with.

Tobias,
Love the colors and images.
On the improvement side, 4 things stand out to me:
1. Horizon on cover very tilted.
2. Font color on cover does not stand out well and gets lost in details. The hue is also in a different range and seems out of place. Have you considered eyedropping a color that's already in the picture, perhaps a yellow or orange? Then perhaps using the same color of shadow for copy, instead of cover text color? I can't say for sure without playing around with it.
3. The hibiscus photo lines up on the horizon of landscape and detracts from the image. I think it might look better if it were tilted a little more to the right and moved over to cover a bit of the people photo.
4. The gray scren behind the photos might also benefit from being a color picked up from one of the images.
Mind you, I'm no design expert, just an artist. But it looks like you are on the right track.
Cheers,
Roxanne

Here goes. I think all the elements are there. First, don't care for the lower right of the cover- a little bland. Would love to see it as lush green. Back cover, strongest photo is the hibiscus- I'd spread the 3 shots around the page and wrap the text around them (one on the upper right corner, one middle left and on lower left corner) maybe get rid of the polaroid frames. I'd probably bump the saturation up a little on the cover photo as well- that may be my monitor, I'm a work and it isn't the greatest. |

I like it and the suggested changes by greatandsmall and vxpra will help too.
Only thing is about the flower on the back, I like the polaroid frames, makes me think more of vacation pictures instead of photos done professionally for a certain reason (not sure if that made sense) but I think the gray and white should maybe be gradiant from the white to gray or soften the hard line between them, but I was also thinking about the pictures and polaroid frames overlapping into the text (white) area some to seem more like you just dropped them on the table (text), would appear more natural and free spirted.
Good luck.

So I wonder what the evening crowd thinks.
