Despite living just 40 miles from Manhattan, I get all sorts of critters in my yard. Yesterday, I just missed a flock of turkeys as they scurried into the brush. Today, I caught a glimpse of a hawk so I ran to get my camera and hid behind a woodpile to see if he'd come back. No such luck, but this red fox trotted up to within 15 feet of me and pounced on a chipmunk or something before I spooked him. I didn't get a clear shot on this dark, overcast day (my kingdom for a Canon 100-400mm IS), but I feel pretty lucky that I saw him at all during the day.

Touch of country in the city as the song says, eh Shannon? (Anyone know the song? No googling allowed!) Nice shots of the red fox, the 2nd one especially. Good enough to fav! |

Very nice shots... and the fox looks ever so healthy. I do hope you don't have a pet cat. |
