something like this...
//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=30020&item=7524107390&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
It's better than the D30 in build at the very least. Fully a pro camera. No lenses included but the body is pretty darn cheap!

The Canon D60 6MP DSLR w/ a starter lens would probably be a better choice for only like $400 more.

Bizzare, it shows 60owners and all of the ones I checked out have never even posted a shot... much like most of the "owners" of the 1DsMkII when I check them out (1 guy lists the whole canon range and the Nikons as well.... sure...) |

3x the price and really not that much better except for file size. The overall package with the D2000 is unbelievable once you really look at it and the features it has.

well...I just don't know, this is a very old model, and the one advertised can easily be on its last miles... add to this that you can get a used 300d which is defitnitly more "today" for the same price. |

I'm betting this is better than the 300D if it's in even decent condition. Like i said, i'm thinking of it as a backup after I get a "new" 1D I. Just run down the specs of it and see for yourself where it beats the rebel. There are a lot of places.

I really have to wonder...How can you have a 2MP as a back-up for an 8.2MP camera? exactly when would you feel comfy swaping the 8.2 with the 2.0 ??? |

Gil,
We know you can afford a 1Ds mkII, and we know you can afford expensive lenses and know some things about photography.
Two things: 1) not everyone is like you, and 2) you're not always right.

dpreview also has the D2000 here
//www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Kodak/kodak_dcs520.asp
look at the comment at the end
"Most, Hugely, Very, Highly recommended."

Cool I couldn't find that. I'm having a read now.
Side by side: D30, D60, D2000
The D2000 has an interesting storage type: "PCMCIA (2 x type II / 1 x type III)"

It's a 2.0MP camera (not a 4.0),it starts at Iso200 and uses a rare if not impossible to locate memory system and it uses a CCD sensor...
Paul, it's not a question of what I can or cannot afford, (that, I believe is nobody's business) and it's not about always being right (I learn my fair share here as well), it's ONLY about an opnion which I think is valide, much as every other opinion... and my opinion is that purchasing a camera system which is most certainly achaique and most probably surpassed in all aspect, even by entry level DSLR's is not a wise move. |

Remember also that that review and conclusion was written in 1999. Heh..
I would imagine that if the same camera came out *today*.. it would be laughed at.

The 1D I is a 4mp camera... I promise.
I wonder if something like this could be used?

You may want to consider buying a used Olympus E-20.

OH, I'm sorry, I'm talking about the D2000. |
