I recently bought a 300D + BG-E1. The item hasn't arrived yet, but should in the next few days. So. The set includes one original canon BP-511 (and the usual 300D accessories).
I was thinking of buying a 3rd party 1600mAh BP-511. Is there any risk in using it in the grip with a canon BP-511? |

I've not used my battery grip with mismatched batteries, but you can also use the grip with just a single battery rather than two.

Oh. Well that's jolly good then. I shall order the 3rd party one.
The batteries are drained one by one, right? (not at the same time) |

I believe they're drained at the same time.

the grip drains one battery, then switches over to the other...double life and hours+ of photos.

correct, so it is wise to only put 1 in at a time until its dead and then switch to the other one :) |

It states in the grip manual that it drains one first.
