You can start selling prints as soon a you become a member. No need to build up feedback. But don't expect many sales no matter how good your shots may be. Keep in mind that the majority of the users here are photographers themselves and tend to be print sellers much more than print buyers. If you generate traffic by linking to your DPCPrints storefront from other sites you will do better. And you can pick up some refferal money if the the people you bring to the DPCPrints buy other people's prints. Reading all the FAQ pages is a good place to start, if you haven't already done that.

Since your a member you should go ahead and upload your prints. Even if you don't sale that much it will be in addition to what you may sell elsewhere.

It is fine to use as a storefront. The trick, as stated before, is to drive traffic to your gallery -- DPC Prints does not generate significant traffic on its own. If you use your own referral link:
//dr3amz.dpcprints.com
you will get a 25% commission on ALL sales generated by that visit, in addition to the 50% you get on sales of your own photos.
In addition to directing people to your gallery, careful keywording of your photos will maximize the chances of people who might want an image like yours finding it.

It ranges from none to (a guess) dozens sold. I think most people here are more successful at photography than at marketing. But it only takes a few minutes to upload print images, and a couple of minutes later to set the prices, so why not? Everything from that point on is all sales and no work. |

well i guess some sales must be made in order to help fund the space given for hi-res uploads... either that or they're selling your images elsewhere for a profit! :) |

I wouldn't recommend DPC Prints as your only avenue for selling your work but, if you're already a paid member of DPChallenge, it costs nothing to load prints for sale here and also offer them elsewhere.
I have sold 31 prints (not counting the 100+ sales made as part of the charity project I ran - see my profile) so I don't consider it to be a major income stream but... it's enough to be able to buy my own prints cheaply plus those of others.
As has been said, DPCP generates VERY little traffic on it's own - there's little or no marketing to speak of. People find it randomly on google or are referred by links placed in various places by sellers.

What other places are out there that you would recommend? Not the stock sites.

I think smugmug.com also has a gallery sales section; you may have to sign up for a premium account. DeviantArt.com also has sales by the photographer available, for what used to be a $25 one-time set-up fee. |

Thanks Paul. Smugmug does have one but I would have to upgrade my account and that would cost roughly around $100 year. Not sure I can make enough in print sales to cover that.

I have a free DeviantArt account and have chacked it cost $24.95/lifetime. Cheap but I was looking to see if I could spread the love for free. I will search further into the deviantart thing and will probably sign up. Also got the craigslist. Had forgotten about those.

Does anyone here sell prints thru DeviantArt? Is there any more print buyer traffic there than here?

I was hoping they had a free trial but they don't. I might go ahead and sign up just because it is a one time fee of $24.99
