Every time I turn on my camera, it asks for the date and time and since I hate that being displayed in a photo, I've always skipped that action. But now I need to do it in the event I'm lucky enough to have something rated high enough to require it for the challenge rules. If I click on properties of a photo, it will say the date created and all of the things done to it, but that's different, right? I'm still new to the digital format, so I may seem naive in my questioning. THANKS!!

You'll need to make sure the date is set correctly in your camera but you don't need to turn on the option that actually puts the date on the photo. As long as the date is correct in the camera and you keep an unaltered in any way original, the date information will be kept in it...which is whaqt you see when you click on the properties.

Ok, thanks. That means I have to read the directions. GOD, I hate doing that. LOL

Also most cameras have a really small battery inside the camera that is charged when you have the adapter or main battery in the camera. If you don't use the camera for a long while they may become discharged so it may be necessary to reset the time.

along with faidoi's comment about the smaller battery...you don't take the batteries out when you turn it off do you? I know they will slowly wear down if you leave them in even if your camera is off but if I take mine out I lose all my settings and it sucks to try and remember what is what. Just make sure you always have spares and leave a set in, that may stop it from asking for the date every time you turn it on.

I use rechargeable batteries. I have to reset alot of stuff each time I turn it on. Maybe I don't have as sophisticated a camera as some of you.

Thanks for all the info. I've noticed that when I turn it on, if I just click one of the buttons, it seems to "know" the date and I don't mind that too much. I've never set it myself though.

If you go into the camera mode, there is an area where you can check "all reset" every time your camera is turned on and off..I think you might want to change this to "no" so it doesn't reset back to the default settings every time.

I own a S3000 and don't seem to have that problem unless I leave it off for long periods of time with low or no batteries in it. Strange.
