Sorry your little guy is not so well right now. As a parent of now grown children I know the pain you feel for your sick child. If we could just change places with them. Hang in there and I'll be sending out good thoughts for him.

OHHHHHH, I cannot stand to hear it when a child/Infant is sick. I will keep him in my prayers along with you and his mother. I noticed that you said the Dr's said he had some type of bacterial or Viral infection. Did they mention "RSV"? it effects millions of infants up to 2yrs. of age and most cases are mild but some can be server and cause hospitalization. My youngest son got sick around 18 months old we took him to the ER expecting the DR to say it was a cold or something and we would bring him home that same day. Well we had a terrific doctor that did all kinds of blood work and would not settle on saying it was a cold and he was diagnosed in the ER wish "RSV" (Respiratory syncytial virus). He was in the hospital about a week and it did not look good visually because of all the tubes, IV's, etc. Just as you described. As a father It was hard for me to watch. They even had him in a tent. They allowed his mother to stay with him 24/7 and even lay with him (scrubs of course). But he is 13 yrs old now and doing just fine.
Two reasons I told you that:
1. Even though thing look visually bad, health wise he better than he looks most of the time. And again with all prayers for him, he will be ok.
2. When you said "Bacterial or Viral Infection" of some kind I did not know if you meant you didn't know what kind or the doctors have not been able to put their finger on what kind. If the doctors don't know, tell them about "RSV", sometimes it is overlooked. You can google "RSV" and find a lot of info on this infection.

Again may God bless him along with you and your wife. Be strong, I can promise you he is a fighter and children have an amazing ability to fight off infections. Keep us informed.

Sorry to hear about you son being ill. I am a medical intern and eventhough I don't have a lot of experience yet I know one thing and that is that babies/children are much, much more resilient than one first thinks.
I am also a father and had my girl (2 yrs) in the hospital for pneumonia not soon long ago. The best you can do is be there for him and have faith in the medical staff to take care of him and get him well again. They are doing everything they can. They always do.
Best wishes and a quick recovery.

I'm so sorry to hear your little fellow's unwell. Is so hard when you're unable to fix their hurt but have faith in the medical team. Positive thoughts coming your way.

He is defintely in the best place, he'll be fine, kids are hardy little people and can take a licking but keep on ticking. I have a boy and a girl and know what a worry it is even when they get a cold but trust me, he will be up and about in a week or two.

Thnak you for all you supportive answers. Louis-Justin managed to sleep a few hours last night and the mothers did too just like me. He seems to feel happy this morning and i'm going there right now. I wasn't exepcting that tidal wave of answer and I can't thank people enough. It mean a lot to me.

Glad to hear little Louis-Justin is feeling a bit better this morning. I can't believe how well children seem to cope with illness. They put us adults to shame sometimes. I have 2 little boys and we have just got over chicken poxs, they were so good not to scratch, and coped so well.

Good that the little man got some sleep, it helps the body enormously to rest.
thinking of you all,
debbie

My Grandson recently spent a week in the hospital. He turned 2 months old while he was there. It was such a scary time. I know what you are going through, and my prays are going out to you. Trust in God. Be there for your wife to lean on. She needs you. We are all here for you to vent, and discuss this with. Lean on us. He's a very charming young man. We are all pulling for him, and you, and your family. May God Bless.

By now, Nick, I pray that your sweet baby is well on his way to a total healing, and you and his mother are feeling better too. I really believe in the power of people joining together in prayer -- and with all the people here who are praying for your family, I have no doubt that there are powewrful forces going on in the spiritual realm to bring healing in this situation. Thanks for letting us all know, so we could be praying for you all!

Keep us posted, and may God cover you all in peace today!!!!

I hope everything is okay, is there an update?

My feelings are with you too. I have two young boys, and although I haven't had an experience like that, I think I can imagine how horrifying and traumatic it would be.

Update:

Yesterday is neutrophils count was at 20% the normal level this morning it had drop to 13%. Thius afternoon it was still at 13%. From what I understand, bacteria infection seems out of the questions while virals infections still remains as a possibility. My only hope is that is a virals infection because I heard doctor saying nasty words like leucemia. I can't wait until tomorrow morning to know... Thanks for all the support.

Merci Doctornick
