I'm goin' on a weeklong photo sabatical leavin' Saturday. I'm gonna be in Mennonite and Amish country for a week. Isn't it time for a free study?

Why not have a free study every month? What's wrong with letting people submit their best photo recently taken?
If needed - it could be open to submission only in the last week of the month: "Submit your best photograph taken this month", and then one week of voting. The makes free studies adhere to the 'normal' challenge standards, and still allow what so many people crave for.

Mennonites don't mind if you photog them. The Amish don't want you to. That doesn't mean there isn't a lot to shoot on their farms or buggies going down the roads and such....

I don't know for a fact that that's what they believe or not. I do know that my mum has a couple of shots of her dad (my grandfather) when he was still part of the Amish church. I have also seen some other shots of the Amish. If you're in real tight with the community they will make an occasional acception.

The belief in soul-stealing is mostly associated with Native Americans. |
