You will LOVE crater lake if you have never been there! When I was younger, living wit parents, we used to go to Diamond Lake every weekend during the winters and ride our snowmobiles. We made snowmobile trips to crater lake...absolutely incredible!! I've been there in the Summer as well and it is breathtaking as well!!
Have a safe and wonderful photo taking trip!!!

Definitely stop in the Seattle area!!! Seattle itself is really cool, but there are TONS of National Parks which are just absolutely breathtaking. I really enjoyed the Hoh Rain Forest, in Forks WA. It's on the west side of the state, but probably only an hour or two from Seattle if I remember right...maybe a little more. But definitely worth the trip.
Pike's Market is really cool in Seattle, but some of the other "touristy" stuff in Seattle was not what I'd hoped for. There's a section of Seattle called Capitol Hill (I think) which has some nice young artsy stuff going on...would be good for shots of people and such. |

Don't skip Deadwood. Little Big Horn is cool too, for photos but also for it's history.

If you're going to be in Portland, the Columbia Gorge is only about 20-30 minutes away, hit the Historic Columbia River Highway (just off of I-84E) and you will have access to something like .. 6 or 7 waterfalls that are easily accessible - meaning get out of your car in the parking lot and go maybe 20 feet for some. Some of my favorites in that area are Multnomah Falls, Latourell Falls and Horsetail Falls. Good hiking in there too.
Also, Mt. Hood isn't tooo far away either, but then neither is the coast and that has some excellent views, assuming the fog isn't in. I'd say Mt. Hood is maybe 1.5 hours away? The Coast is great no matter where you hit it and you can get there in about 1.5 hours too.
Just outside of Salem I believe is Silver Falls State Park which has a nice loop with hiking and waterfalls too. If you're heading up north towards Seattle and have time, try and stop by Mt. St. Helens too. Can't beat the Pacific Northwest for its mountainous, foresty goodness!
Hmm.. just noticed he's probably on the road now so.. uh.. anyone else that's planning on heading this way can take advantage of the info! :D

I have a question for you, Costa. Where do you find the time to travel so much? You seem to cover an awful lot of ground. I just wish I could do the same.
