I am purchasing one of these this week, and was wondering if anyone knows if the Wireless Remote RC-1 will have all the same functionality of the Remote RC-60E3 (non-wireless).

i got the rc-1 yesterday, i think the only thing it can do is press the shutter in either immediate or 2 second delay, you cant use it to focus in or out, or change shutter speed, aperature or anything else like that.

Both are very basic remotes with pre-fire (focus) and fire (take the shot) functions.

The wireless one may not be of any use in bulb mode. The wired remote will let you keep the shutter open as long as want in bulb mode as long as you keep the button pressed.

the wireless version is of no use at all in bulb mode. I had orginally bought the wireless version thinking it is just a little more expensive and will do all the same things. I was wrong. I ended up buying the wired version as well for 2 reasons.
1. Bulb mode-The wireless version only fires of a shot that was pre-set with a definate shutter speed.
2. Delay-The wireless will only fire the shutter if the camera is on the "delay" mode on the XT. I hated waiting that extra 10 seconds every time.
That being said, I do use the wireless when I want a pic of myself. It is better than pushing the delay and running to the spot you want to be and then trying to get your face not to look like you have just run in a panic to get a picture. hehe.

I have the Rebel, and I use the wireless remote.
I use it in bulb setting all the time, and am able to keep the shutter open no problem. Not sure about Rebel XT, but for Rebel, set camera to timer mode, set button on remote to the dot/circle. That will allow you to instantly fire the shutter when you want to. Click button once to start shooting, when you want to close shutter, click button again. You do not have to continually hold the button down.
If I am just doing normal images, that is what I use. If I'm doing astro work, then I use ImagesPlus program to control the camera.

(edited to add info about instant shooting with remote)

I think the confusion here may be in the fact that there are 2 wireless remotes for the 300/350D. The RC-1 and the RC-5. I think the RC-5 works with a delay. I think I will have to try the RC-1 and the non-wireless RC-60E3 to see if they perform the same. I want to be able to do the half press of the shutter, to get the focusing, and then snap the picture to capture the instant I want. If the wireless did that I'd consider it, but I think only the wired one will allow that.
