The Marketing Research people at Samsung will love your approach, lol.
It has an EVF (Electronic ViewFinder). It's offset to the left side of the camera instead of being in the normal top-center position. |
I don't think I could go back to an EVF after having to do the Spray and Pray on so many action shots with my P&Sers...Give me Through the Lens
[not @ coolhar]
Also what is the big deal with the big LCD, are they catering to the Chimpers? Is this so shooters can look at every picture and delete each one they don't like...
...get bigger CF and take pictures instead of looking at the back of the camera every 4 seconds.
Just a bigger surface area to scracth geared at the shop for cameras during the holidays market... (ok that was a little more than 2 cents but it is still only mine) :) |
For someone like my mom, who is almost 70, the big LCD's are a godsend! Looking through those 'tiny' holes (as mom would say) is just a big pain! LOL.... :)

Just to keep things in perspective, that's not a review, nor even a preview, as dpreview sometimes calls their preliminary write-up. The text is verbatim from the Samsung's press release, and is labelled as such. The exact same wording can be found on other sites. I suspect the pictures of the camera are also from Samsung.

I don't know what you mean by "catering to chimpers". The attraction for me of a lager LCD is that I can see it better. My eyesight has deteriorated a bit from when I was younger. It used to be very good, so much so that whenever I was tested they would not believe the results and had me re-tested. But now I need reading glasses for anything that is closer than about 3 feet from my eyes, like a computer's screen, or reading a book or newspaper. When shooting the diopter adjustment works great so that I can see in the viewfinder just fine, but to see the LCD really well I need to put on my specs. This applies to my 20D and my others various prosumers and P&S cameras equally. Having a larger LCD screen (as the 2.5 inch on a Nikon D2H compared to the 1.8 inch on my 20D) means I can see the image more clearly and have to resort to putting on glasses less frequently.
I still shoot with my non-DSLR cameras and don't find any difference in how I use the viewfinder vs LCD between them and my 20D.
