Comments, suggestions, critiques please - positive or negative. This was taken from the top of Mt. Greylock at sunset here in the Berkshires, elevation approx. 3650 ft., dangerous I know but pointing directly at the sun (no I didn't look before I shot, just pointed and shot). Fully automatic mode.
No post processing other than NeatImage, crop, resize, save for web.

Love the colors and the cloud formations. Sure you were on a mountain. Looks flat to me. (C: Sorry, just used to MY mountains.

Well first of all, sunsets are very cliche. To attract attention, a sunset has to be really spectacular, and not just "ordinarily" beautiful. Secondly, they have to be technically perfect. Your shot has some silhouetted trees (a good thing) but a very badly blown out sun (bad) and a titled horizon (bad).
There have been a few sunset shots over the years on DPC that have been good enough to ribbon. Take a look through the archives and seriously critique those shots. Shooting a sunset is easy (trust me, we all have hundreds of them on file). Shooting a spectacular sunset is TOUGH! |
