OOps, I guess I'm too excited, the Digma pics are uploading now. Big files so it'll take 30 minutes and then the Tamron 17-35 lens.
Nothing fancy or scientific, just quick handheld shots from my apt. door to see if things work.
P.S. They have been uploaded and ready for view.

Well, I'm back from the zoo and my initial impressions are as follows:
1. This is a big and heavy lens, but it's well balanced and I was albe to carry it and handhold it for over 4 hours at the zoo without problems.
2. Focusing speed and accuracy is quick. HSM is quieter than my 70-200mm f2.8L lens.
3. This is very sharp and the colors of the DG version is excellent. I don't have any non DG version images to compare, but colors were great.
4. I'd recommend this lens without any reservations.

I'll upload shots from the zoo under "Digma at the Zoo" on my site tonight.
