Are we allowed to send a PM to a given comment during voting,or do we have to wait untill voting is over.
I asked for critiques in construction, but got this.. well don't exactly know how to put it...ridiculing? comment, wich I think is not nice from someone who's been here forever, towards an amateur like me, who's still learning.

You can, but it's probably a lot better to wait until the end of the challenge.
One of the main reasons I haven't commented in a long time was a kind of rude PM I received.

I've no intention of sending a rude PM, that's not my style, I'll leave rudeness to those who, unfortunately for them, don't know how to be just nice and helpful.
I just wanted to know if we're allowed to response to comments during voting, including positive comments, when the sender is not hidden.

Yes, it is allowed. As faidoi posted, it is usually better to wait until voting is over though. Responding during voting will most likely reveal your identity to that voter. So while it is not against the rules, my personal opinion is wait.

Rude commenters are best ignored unless somehow they are violating the terms of the site in some way then you should send a PM to one of the SC or use the contact link under help.

I decided to not view the identities durring voting- I somtimes go berzerk when I first hear the negatives but then I get over it... some people are just rude and there's nothing you can do. I think it gives them satisfaction to know they get a rise out of you. |

I may or may not be in the minority, but am in teh minority taht admits to PMing to commenters, or (usually) responding to PMs to my comments.
98% of the time the PM is an explanation. Either i got a comment that that the person does not understand the pic (how it meets the challenge, processing, etc) or i get a PM of similar content when i state "I don't see how it meets the challenge" or similar.
usually when i vote and comment, the PM shows up 2 days later and i have no connection bewteen the PM and the photo in question.
Regarding anonymity...the first comment i got on my construciton shot was "Um... is this you, Chris? Just guessing by the _________ (item in picture)... :)". I often recognize his pics too.
I vote as I see it - a PM is not going to turn a 1 into a 10, and even with a 2Ds Mk2 as a bribe, would it matter in the final tally - no.

It would have mattered to me and the person who finished just ahead of me in Decisions.

Thanks all for your answers/advice to my question. I shall use them wise. I've no intention to send a PM to the one that I got this comment from, I'm too old to play games like this, though I don't think it's a nice gesture towards fellow members.
Being a Dutchie I might've misunderstood, but I don't think so.
No problem overhere, just enjoying photography.
