I find myself going to shoot a wedding in New Kensington PA on 6/18 and I'm going down early. I may have time during the day either/or day. I am planning to hit the National Aviary and take some pictures of the city from up high (Mt. Washington?). Anyone who's interested in taking the jaunt? Also, if you could recommend other locations I may want to hit, that'd be great. I can't guarantee I'm in until I know the specific itinerary for this wedding party, but I really want to hit the aviary (too late for Birds challenge - GAWDDAMMIT).

Sorry, won't have time to meet, but will be watching suggestions in this thread with interest as I'm going to be moving to Pittsburgh in the next few months. Good luck with the wedding photos.

Our last DPC GTG was...the Aviary and Mt Washington.
My Aviary shots. Alan's
are still on line as well.
If you can find the West End Overlook you can get a less icy shot of this:
.

I don't get my work schedule till tomorrow, but i am probably working 6/17 and 18 in the evening. I am usually off on sundays, but this being fathers day i fear i will be working. If i can assist at the wedding I'll be happy to call off and take you out photo shooting for fun!

I live over in Beaver PA (directly west from New Ken, easy via turnpike). I'll gladly try and meet up with ya.

I work in Chippewa. There are one or two more DPC folks around Beaver County, but i have yet to get them out and about taking pics, except for alansfreed
. The other DPC Pittsburghers are from teh South Hills and oakland areas.

If you look at my entries and porfolio you may recognize some local places. I'd loce to go to Beaverun and shoot a race - but i have no cle when they run or anything like that. I was going to go to the Happy days Car Cruise but had to work. This week there is a carnival in downtown Beaver but i doubt i can make it - depends on work. Night shots there wold be cool i think.

Then maybe I'll take both you AND my daughter to the carnival! :)

Oh, and congrats on your winnings on Jeopardy, too!

(Sorry for making so many jokes at your expense without even knowing you...!)

The west side is way cooler.

Yep... I did those in my "Ghetto Basement Studio" a couple months ago. It was a lot of fun because she seemed to be very natural with the whole modeling thing. She'd just strike a pose, I'd shoot, and she'd instantly do something completely different. Made things easy from my standpoint! Great girl -- hope she goes far!

Editing to add that I only took the main shots that appear in each navigation area of the site... the shots on the "Pix" page are her own personal ones.

dont plan on taking the 20d into downtown EC anytime soon, I've seen some shady people down there on many occasions :p

but yeah, nice camera to you as well.

i actually live outside of EC, I live in Fombell, more of a farm town, not used to the big 'city' hahaha, you know of fombell correct?

indeed, you are closer to one of my favorite places to eat: browns country kitchen...love that place.

ever go shoot mcconnells mills since you are so close?
06/22/2005 11:37:31 AM · #25
I've done alot of winter scenes in McConnells Mills..last time, it led my minivan into getting stuck at the bottom of Hell's Hollow which, of course, wasn't fun at all.
