I am just become puzzled. Which one will be the best bye (in point of image quality is concern), Nikon D70 or D70s. Please Help me.

Thanks.

I think the sensor is the same but the image processing program has been updated. Unless there is something about the 70D/s that you specifically want, the 50D is the best bargain.

I totally disagree. The D70 can be found for less than the D50 and spec wise it is a lot better camera even though the image pipeline is the same. I just bought my 5th D70 (new) for $729. That is over $500 less than my first.

I do think the D50 will be a great buy eventually, when the newness wears off and competition forces it below the magic $500 barrior. Personally I would like one to carry everywhere, but the lack of CF card support will probably keep that from happening.

From the point of view of image quality -- get the D70s.

...or the D70 and the firmware upgrade that has been released by Nikon.

Personally I would like a D70s just for the larger screen, I do use the screen a lot and am about to buy a portable printer where I will be screaming out for the larger screen (printer uses pictbridge)

My vote is the D70. It is basically the same camera as the D70s minus the larger screen. The firmware upgrade for the D70 makes them pretty equal. The D70 will now drop even more in price. I̢۪m thinking of a second body so I can carry a wide angle and my 200-500 ready to go.

Thank you all for your kind attention. I have bought D70s yesterday and satisfied with its result so far. But I think I have to read out the manual at first to use all the function.

Thank all of you again.

Rudra.

YEAH!!! We have a manual reader!!! Just do it about 2-3 itmes the first 2 weeks ya have it...then once a month thereafter. All questions are answered there. Don't get me wrong...I like helping people out, but if they have not even attempted to read the manual (helping yourself) it is a bit irritating. (C:

Rudra - congrats on the new camera! Time to change your default camera designation under preferences.

I Have been using both. The only significant differences between the Nikon D70 and D70s is a bigger LCD (2.0" vs. 1.8"), 1/500 flash sync , like a slight improvement to the AF system and flash(has more wide angle coverage). The original D70 is excellent for AF and flash as it is, so kudos to Nikon for wanting to make it better. Resolution and every other aspect of everything, even the menu system, appears identical.Battery is better then D70 , they added a new connector for a wired remote control .Plus little improvement in CCD for noise reduction. Personally if this means you can get a discount on the D70 then I'd skip the D70s and look for a deal on the D70. Either is excellent.

Just to clarify, the D70 has a flash sync of 1/500 and the firmware upgrade also brings the AF to the same level (amongst other things)

The difference between a D70s and a D70 with the free, downloadable firmware upgrade seems to be only the larger screen and a wired remote (both have IR remote)

The D70 has 1/500 flash sync, from what I used today in a shoot.
