This just goes to show how badly corporate America sucks. I feel sure it was used knowing they had no right to do so. Otherwise they would have issued an comment/apology. Instead they just paid up. Guilty in my opinion. Hey I have a great idea, let's outsourse all photography to China. Ok... Yeah, I know it's not a rant forum:) Eat the rich! |

No. I used to when I was in college and didn't know any better. Shortly after I because a serious photographer I realized the hypocrisy of using pirated MP3's while at the same time demanding that others respect my rights to my work, so I deleted them all.
Now the only MP3's I own are free downloads from official web sites, legally purchased, gifts from the bands themselves, or copies of music I own in CD form. All are for personal use only and are not redistributed in any way.
I'm glad to see you're consistent with regard to your views on copyright. :)

Maybe not, but it would still deprive the artist of income to which they would otherwise be entitled. The only difference is how much.

The real question (and analogy) would be - do you SELL pirated mp3s.

Back...having read article #2 from bizjournals...
It seems to me that there was a guy who took a great photo.
A marketing person for the Cowboys asked if they could have the right to use the image for a specific purpose.
Then, after acquiring the photo, they didn't use it.
It sat in the proverbial "drawer" for a couple of years.
Then, another marketing person came along and, not knowing (or perhaps caring) how the great photo got into the drawer, decided it would be perfect for placement on promotional items.....
Then, (awww, you write the rest!) |

Actually, the artists in question make either a) no money from music sales through royalties, or b) extremely little
It's the RIAA that makes all the money, and in turn, they are consistently screwing over most beginning artists and bands, and *that*'s why there's such a hate-on for the RIAA, and why many people don't feel bad about keeping "illegally" obtained mp3s on their system for personal use.
That said, it's good to have convictions, but for the love of pete, the witchhunting has got to stop.
