Based on a thread from last week it might be one of those stink flowers. You won't know until it opens.

It surely must be some kind of arum. Lilies are in this family. So is the Titan Arum which is the world's largest flower. One is about to bloom in Wisconsin and they are hoping to break the world record for size. Not all arums are stinky but many are. Here is a photo of an arum we have growing in our garden. We got it from a man at our local farmers' market who gave it to us free if we promised to plant it. We did and each year it gets another flower. This year there are three coming up. Here's a picture from last year. It stinks so it attracts flies.

Here is a back view.

Here's more about the Titan Arum in Wisconsin.

I've been looking for this. The stink flower is an "aroid" or "arum" as mentioned above. On this aroid society website, there are some that look a lot like it. I'm sure they would be interested in your image.

Once identified, you could get some great stock images of it.

Good luck. I'm very curious to find out what it is, and if it belongs in Kentucky.

That's really cool!

Glad you found out what it is.

My only suggestion is that if you really want to get on your mother-in-law's good side; definitely DO NOT send her one of those for her Birthday;)

Thanks to this thread I now know what our arum is called. It is a Dracunculus vulgaris. I didn't know before what kind it was. Ann

Sure it's not a Triffid ? Make sure you kill it quick if it ever starts to move around.
