Taken today in Oceanside, CA around 5pm at the pier. It's a 50's style diner called Ruby's located at the end of the incredible 1600 foot pier.
I am proud of this picture cuz it's one of my better ones, i am still learning and getting better at seeing ART!!
Thanks in advance for your comments.. |

I really like this. The way you did the vignetting reminds me of pictures I've taken with my Holga (cheap medium format film camera), and I really like the way they can come out. I think the only thing that you might adjust is the horizon line or the pier. The picture seems just a little crooked and its kindof distracting to me.

Yeah, I thought about trying to straighten it out, but it is still something I am learning with this somewhat complicated Adobe Photoshop CS2. I just got this new program 2 days ago, so i'll figure it out in time.
ANYBODY ELSE??? |

Also I am running Adobe Photoshop CS2....does anybody have any suggestions on how I could straighten the pier out? Without turning the whole picture. Anybody?? please??

There is a tutorial on DPC for fixing horizons
//www.dpchallenge.com/tutorial.php?TUTORIAL_ID=21
but I usually just...
select all
edit> transform> rotate (until it 'looks' right)
and then crop off the edges...

The tutorial method is fast, easy and the best way to quickly level a horizon. Learning it is time well spent.

Nice shot...Hey does Ruby's have like a heavily varnished wood bar that goes across the front windows facing the pier? Looks like the place I used to fall down a lot when I was a young Jarhead :)

awpollard: I am not sure as I have yet to be inside it. But my BF tells me there is a large bar in there, just not across the front windows. If you were to cut off the wall in front of the bar, you could see right down the pier. (that is coming from him, who's a jarhead). |

I dont really like the border thing u used there. and i think its kinda tilted a bit to the left. and id have played with the levels a bit to make it look lighter.
