Two of my most recent attempts at some decent landscape photos:
"Passing Clouds"
"Scenic Drive"
Please, tell me what you think. All comments are welcome.

Hello justin,
For starters you have your links mixed up! When I click on "Passing Clouds" it takes me to the one you have titled "Scenic Drive" and vice versa.
Of the two I like the first one much the best. There is great depth-of-field and lots of interest in from foreground to sky. Seems a bit dark on this monitor but I am at work and using the breakroom computer so nevermind that. The second one with the silhouetted rock formation doesn't appeal to me nearly as much. There are just the black foreground, the slight interest in the top of the ridgeline, and the uniform blue sky dotted with clouds that are all similar. Just my take; thanks for posting these. Ray |

I wish I lived where you live, with such interesting potential backgrounds!
When shooting landscapes you gotta remember the most important rule of photography... You gotta have a subject. Something for your eye to finally rest upon after takin' in all the scenery. As nice as your shots are, they don't really have a subject... Gotta say though, nice skies in both!

They ate not really "land"scapes, they are cloudscapes. A recognized genre, incidentally. These are beautiful skies, as far as that goes.
I don't agree with too cool that there MUST be a "subject" in a landscape shot, but there has to be something to keep your eye moving, even if your "subject" is everything-you-see allt at once. So you need strong compositional elements, and these can do the duty of a subject; diagonals, curves, whatever, things to move the eye through the image.
Robt.
