Inspiration came from LouiseB's "Eureka !" from the lighting challenge.

I took this with my new 300d. Basically, I'd like a "what I would change" critique.

Thanks All!

I love the picture. Idea is intriguingly interesting. I would love to know how did you take this shot?
Hmm, I would perhaps clone out/burn the bluish hue at the base to make the image more clean and clear. A little level adjustment for glass area would make it stand out better. Thats all I could think of, simply loving it the way it is :) Well done !

Thank you very much for the kind comments, Nonage.

I set the timer on the camera (mounted on tripod, of course) and held a flashlight above/behind the bulb to illumintate it.

I'm going to work on the blue area and see what I get.

what is the intent of the photo, or are you going for the graphic element only?

i keep rereading my question and it sounds like there's an agenda behind it, but there's not (honestly!)...i'm just wondering.

Well, there really was no intent, so, yes, it really is just the graphic element. I was holding a lightbulb and drinking from a martini glass (don't ask) and thought "hey...these would look good together!"

I tried it with ice cubues and with colored water, but it turns out that the plain and simple clear water looked the best. And what I found to be the coolest of everything was that a lightbulb in water looks very similar to an ice cube (not the shape, but that look where it's a solid white in the middle, and clear around the edges).

That's my story :)

ahhh, yes..now i see it, it does look like an ice cube...i completely missed that the first time.

I think it would be more effective at a lower angle so that the "bulb above water" doesn't dominate the neat effect of "bulb below water"...otherwise, great work!
