pictures that we are rating are getting more and more every week... maybe the voting page can be redesigned in such a way that we can vote several pictures side-b-side with one submit button.

Wouldn't that take longer for some people's modems to load? Also, the images would have to appear smaller - unless they were stacked one below the other. Also wouldn't this cause people to compare pictures directly to each other, rather than take each picture at face value?

time saving during voting sounds like a good idea. I don't know if this is possible, but how about having the next picture loading in the background while the voter is looking at one - ok, I stole the idea from ACDSee's slide show configuration.

Heck, why not just go all out?

Just use Javascript to check if all of the images have been loaded already, and if not then preload all of the images as soon as you go the voting page and on every voting page thereafter (so that you don't have to wait for all of the images to preload before moving on).

This will allow for images to download as you pondering over a comment, or as you get up to grab that cup of coffee.

What i've done, as was suggested in another thread, is open the voting page. Let the thumbnails load. Then, open that page two or three times (I use Ctrl-N). On the first page select a picture at the top. On the second, select a picture near the middle, and on the third select a picture near the bottom. Then, while you are voting on the first one, the second and third are loading. I still had some wait time, but not near as much. AND I was able to vote on around 20 pictures in the time it took me to vote on 5 or 6 previously.

there have been several suggestions in different threads on how to do this, depending on the program you use, but I don't remember where they all are.

One practical suggestion was to shift-click (PC) or command-click (Mac) on the thumbnails to pop-up the large voting page in a separate window. Just remember the part about picking one from each part of the page -- otherwise, since each window advances to to the next photo after you vote, you could end up with two copies of the same picture open.
