While on holiday, I backed up all my photos to my Vosonic X-Drive (VP6210). It carries out a backup by renaming files and folders as it copies across. Does anyone know if it messes with the EXIF data in any way? Does it put a different datestamp on it?
Thanks guys!

It might change the "date modified" but that is an attribute of the file system, not the file itself. The EXIF data should remain unchanged, since that is data that resides within the file itself.

Edit to add:
I often rename my original files, the renaming itself has no effect on the file contents, nor the validity as a proof file for DPC.
