Well I just spent about a half hour looking for what kind of critter this is, and all I can tell you is I ain't got a friggin' clue!!
I really like the pic, though. Nice detail, and I love the DOF for this one.

Cool shot. I saw something like this in Bolton the other day. It was black and had a bunch of 'eyes' all over it's body. Kinda creepy. Yours looks like a colorful pipe cleaner. :)

no luck - been busy though. it will have wings.

I think it's some sort of Tiger Moth larvae, commonly known as a "wooly bear". What exact species...not a clue, but you may find it here...

I saw several that were similar, but a quick scan didn't show an exact match, and apparantly, some of them have different stages.
