Some people loved my lighting entry, some hated it. For those that really liked it, I thought I'd post the only other photo of these sisters that I was privileged enough to take. As I posted in this thread, I chose the color image in part *because* of the fact that the color of the light was pink, as it shone through the silks of the henna tent where the photo was taken. I didn't think the black and white image would fare as well. Perhaps I'm wrong, as this might have appealed to those that were put off by the overt sensuality of the entered shot. Then again perhaps not. Anyway, enjoy.

Both are great images.

While the lighting in both is fantastic -- it is not dominant. With the way the voters have to be hit over the head with the challenge topic, you really have no reason to second guess your images based on them.

Left a comment. I like this one in many many ways even better than the submitted, but am pretty sure that it would not have done as well with the voters.

Thank you both, and Arcanist, thank you for your comment on the shot. I hadn't even noticed the apparent difference in sharpness of the earrings. The strange thing is that I only sharpened the eyes in the b/w shot, so the earrings must be a bit of an optical illusion- the black naturally stands out more, perhaps. I may try blurring them a tad. Thanks again!

The girl on the left in particular is devastatingly beautiful. I think I prefer the B&W but I agree with you that entering the pink one into the lighting challenge was probably best. Lovely sharp image, and you've nailed the depth of field. Pity it didn't do better, but it's a great shot so you can be pleased with that :)

I agree. I asked if she was a model, she said no. I asked if she'd be interested in modeling for me, she said no. I asked if she was local, she said no she lived in New York. I asked if I could at least take her picture- she said "you can take a picture of me and my sister!" I asked them to stand just inside the tent, they did the rest. I consider myself lucky to have gotten the two images I did. I didn't even get their names.

I left comments on the color image. Mostly, because I like the pose, and mood that the color leaves intact.

I certainly hope that you gave them contact information, and where they can see their picture, as they may change their mind about modeling once they see it.

Very nice work.

Thanks eckoe. I did give them my card, and asked them to get in touch with me. I also grabbed the info sheet from the people that run the henna tent, and emailed *them* and asked them to have the sisters get in touch with me. We'll see what happens.

And I agree, I definitely should have entered it in Beauty, but it would have been DQ'd- taken just before the challenge actually began.

By the way, if anyone is interested here is a link to all the decent photos I took at the Ren Fest. A few from the joust are in my portfolio from when I was asking for comments on them. I don't think any are as good as the sisters.
