I used Networksolutions.com to buy a domain name and web space. They apparently want money per page to create pages through them. I have very little experience building webpages on my own. Do I HAVE to pay more money through them to get SOMETHING up and running? If I make a simple page in Dreamweaver, how do I actually get it posted to my new domain name?

Which package did you buy? If it's true that they charge per page, I'd take advantage of the 30 day guarantee and get rid of them. |

Thats what I'm asking.....do I have to build my pages through them? Can I build them in Flash, Dremaweaver, or Fireworks on my own and somehow load them to my site? How do I go about loading the pages online?

I don't use NetSol for anything anymore because they are so overpriced. I thought they had packages where you could have a set number of pages, but you had to use their site builder or something. Not a good option, IMHO.
I have a small web-design business on the side and offer cheap hosting. I have worked with a few different hosts & registrars, so I know what some of the popular and not so popular sites offer. Feel free to PM me and I'll see what I can do to help guide you, so you don't get screwed over.

No, you don't have to use them to host your site. You can reigster a domain and sign up for hosting with two separate companies. I usually register my domains through godaddy.com and I get my hosting from Verve Hosting (best ever! I don't care what anyone says.)
When you register your domain, it will ask you for two nameservers. You can get that information from whichever host you choose and hook up the two.
You can create the pages however you like, usually, unless you are choosing some host that only lets you use some weird web generator (don't do that). You can use an ftp program to upload your files (fireftp works well if you're a firefox user, cuteftp or ws_ftp for windows, fetch for mac) or many places allow you to upload through a web interface.

Thanks, You guys have been helpful! I just called the customer support line and got it all figured out. I can use their builder for free, or my own and simply FTP it. The only issue is I can't use both together...I can build something in their creator, then link it to something I make in Dreamweaver for example....but I can't add to the templates with my own designs.

there just the freeks you bought the domain from, you can host it anywhere you want.. they try to lead you to believe that you have to host with them... YOU DONT HAVE TO, search the web for web hosts and then they will set up your dns records to point to their server.. youll have to set your dns info in your admin area at networksolutions to point to the dns servewr your new web server host tells you to... |
