I finally ordered Photoshop CS-2 upgrade using the link I had seen posted here in the past. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on CURVES ;O) and also to being able to shoot in raw format. In case anyone isn't aware, you can upgrade at about half price compared to buying a new copy of CS-2 if you have purchased a Canon digital camera that came bundled with ELEMENTS (link is below).
Now a question: is it legal to sell my ELEMENTS cd, or would that be considered a pirated copy? If it's legal, in a week or so I'll be putting it on eBay along with a couple of good tutorial books, that is unless anyone on dpchallenge is interested. Just PM me, I'll make you a good deal.
Lastly, thanks to skiprow for prodding me to take the plunge and graduate to the full-blown photoshop. Following your example Skip!

Only one person can register and since you've already used your version of elements to upgrade the person buying would not be able to register. So, in a sense it would be considered a pirated copy.

I still use my Elements 3 even though I have CS2. I use Elements to import and catalog all of my photos. It is a lot easier to sort and add tags etc in Elements. Then when I decide what to edit, CS2 is only a right-click away!

Selling your Elements on Ebay might be a problem, but you CAN sell it to someone you know, and call and transfer the ownership of the program to that person. I did this with my copy of Elements 1 & 2.

if you are a student or a teacher of pretty much any kind, you can order an "academic" version of PSCS 2 for $290. the academic version is the same as the normal version; only the pricing structure is different.
this is one place (of a few) that offer this discount:
//www.academicsuperstore.com/item/?tname=244935&title=Photoshop
the entire Creative Suite is only $380 this way, but you have to prove your affiliation with a school. |

Thanks Linda, and to all the others for your replies. Whether or not it's GOOD to be a pirate (aarrhhh!), I've decided to pass on the eBay route. It's also good to be a chicken :o) ....(braaahhhh!) |
