Well if it's rejected, that means that anyone who takes a shot for Beauty with 5/29/2005 in their exif data must also be dq'ed, which doesn't make any sense. |

Sunday May 29th at 23:30 hours, half an hour before submission deadline, is actually Monday, May 30th at 09:30 for me in Sri Lanka. My camera is set to local time, not DPC server time. If I shoot Monday morning, it's still within submission time as far as the server is concerned, but my camera date would place it outside the submission period. Is this taken into account?

No, it means we need to rule on how to handle an entry whose EXIF date is known to be inaccurate.
In the past we have disqualified entryies with "impossible dates" -- dates which, for example, preceded the manufacture of the camera or were after the challenge submission deadline. Our login in doing so was that since an accurate date was not recorded, we had no way to ascertain whether the date of the photograph was during the challenge or not. I am not certain whether we would extend that logic to EXIF dates that are incorrect but within the challenge dates.
As far as I can recall this situation has not come up before, so it's probably best to make an official ruling on the issue ahead of time.

Yes, it is taken into account. To ensure this happens please make sure the Location information in your photograph and/or your profile is completed accurately.
Also note that when submitting to the challenge, if you enter a date of May 31, the server will reject your entry. In this case, please use the last day of the challenge for the photo date when submitting.

The date on the photo that I want to submit is: 05/29/2005 Time is: 11:38. That would make it 24 hours off.

I shot it at 11:38 on 5/28/2005. Time was correct on my camera. Date was one day ahead.
There is only one 11:38. That's 11:38 AM. My camera goes in military 24-hour time.

To follow-up on this, the consensus of Site Council is that you may enter the photograph. Basically our position is that absent evidence to the contrary, the EXIF date is presumed to be correct. If the date is incorrect but still within the dates of the same challenge, you may enter it -- since it was both taken and dated within the challenge dates.
Note that an entry taken outside challenge dates, but with incorrect EXIF placing it inside the dates of a DIFFERENT challenge, may not be entered in that other challenge. Doing so would be considered a willful violation of the challenge rules, and would subject the submitter to suspension of his or her DPChallenge account.
Since both the actual and EXIF dates on your photograph are within the SAME challenge, you may enter it.
Thanks for checking,
Terry
