How do I reduce the noise in these pics. All of my pics turn out like this. |

I don't remember the settings but it looks ok till you upsize and noise reduction is on. Original size was 1600x1200. Quality set at fine. |

It looks like it may have been to dark for the settings but can't tell with knowing what your camera was set at. It has horizontal lines running across the picture like a scan would have. I did a quick edit to see if it could be improved, hope you didn't mind. Let me know what you think...

If you "upsize" a photo, you are asking your editing software to spread apart the pixels in your image, and to create new ones to fill in the gap. Almost by definition those pixels would be "noise" -- depending on the quality of the resampling algorithm the new pixels will blend in or not.
If you use Windows, there are several free noise-reduction programs available, you might try using one of those; I've been using one called PictureCooler which seems pretty effective and simple to use. |

Looks like Neat Image to me...getting a bit plastic looking for skin with that degree of smoothing. JMO. ;^)

Noise Ninja is a great stand alone plug in. Does a pretty darn good job getting rid of the noise.
