I received an email from a guy earlier today. He owns a small pet supply manufacturing company and wishes to use a photo of a dog (head and neck shot)that I took for a pet photography session. The photo is one of my stock photos now as it really is cute. I am by no means a pro though. Just a side business I threw together a couple years back and have been learning as I go.
My questions is....what do I charge him for this? I have never sold one before to be used on packaging. It will be the image on a blister pack for a pet toy.

bump...
i would have suggested doing a forum search but i think its still down. Several photogs have asked similar questions in the past, I cant really give a concrete figure but i guess the best guide i can give is not too high so you dont scare him away, and not too low so that you dont screw yourself over.
bump... someone better experienced should answer :-)

thanks nico for replying. I tried doing a forum search before I posted....but it still is not up and running.
I have no idea what would be too much or not enough. I really hope someone here that has had a similair experience can share with me what a reasonable charge is.

you can search DPC by going to google and entering your search term followed by " site:www.dpchallenge.com" (make sure you put a space between your search terms and that line.
that will give you a pretty good forum search tool.

Thanks muck...googel did work out. It appears that $50 is the going rate, so I might suggest that and see how he feels about it.
