Hmmmmm....
Dinner for Famous (and semi-famous) Landscape Photographers — already done that one, several times, in Carmel in the late 70's/early 80's...
Ansel Adams
Brett Weston
Cole Weston
Morley Baer
I'd have wished to add to that list of great nature photographers Edward Weston (who was deceased of course), Wynn Bullock, and Eliot Porter (whom I've never met).
Dinner for Poets:
Robert Frost
A. E. Stallings
Rhina Espaillat
Alfred Lord Tennyson
William Blake
Robinson Jeffers
David Mason
This would be a lively & diverse group.
Dinner for DPCers — Here I'm trying to build a group that would have some energy (to put it politely); I'd actually be happy to cook for any of y'all if you came by, but here's a "fun" group to sit down with for a lesiurely meal and conversation...
Kpriest
BradP
Coolhar
Graphicfunk
SofaP
TooCool
BobsterLobster
Moodville
Gibun
Ray Ethier
Chiqui
Jacko
Blemt
Zoomdak
Y'all can scratch your heads and figure out the dynamics of THAT dinner LOL...

Robt, I'm sulking - how can you invite that BradP guy and not me? Is my beard too small?

Hell, I had to draw the line somewhere, and we wanted the room warmer, not colda...
jejeje™
Seriously, I was just thinking in terms of general hilarity and contentiousness, with a leavening of youth and seriousness thrown in. I'd happily feed any and all DPCers who showed up on my doorstep.

Geez, just realized 99% included in my original long list were already dead, so cutting down the ghost guests fro my list, what are the chances of me ever having dinner with the Zeus Zen and Keanu :'(

I have a feeling that most people's heroes and celebrity responses are extremely boring at dinner parties.
Perhaps most people are answering the question "If you could have a conversation or ask a historical person a question, who would it be."
For pure entertainment, Robin Williams, Bill Maher and Dennis Miller would be a good start. And they are all alive.
I would be too embarrasseed to eat in front of ghandi, me being a fat american carnivore and him scarcely able to choke down a samosa.
And Jesus, well if you are Catholic you can have Sunday Dinner with him (or perhaps dine on him) every week.
So to sum it up, perhaps Paris Hilton is free for pizza, and maybe she can talk Angelina Jolie into joining us..

Family is a very important part of my life and i would like to invite the family members that have made the biggest impact on my life and helped shape who i really am today.
my grandmother- she had a stroke when i was 6 and couldnt talk after..i would love to be able to hear her voice again and precious family stories from her. she was like a mother to me and i miss her terribly.
my granfather- passed away a few years ago- he was the humor in my life
my great grandfather- he died at the age of 99 when i was 4- i would love to hear the true indian stories that are passed from generation to generation
my great grandmother- she died when i was 10~ i would love to hear stories of the old days and both of thier precious family stories
my dad- just because he is my hero- he raised 5 girls on his own and i would like to thank him for just being who he is.
chief sitting bull- he is my distant great grandfather and i would like to know how he feels about the world today

You shouldn't be... It's a group of people who make a lot of noise int he forums and are guaranteed to be at each others' throats at this party. I'll host another one for smooth conversation and lovely food, and you're on top of that list, along with ZeusZen and Artyste, ok? I'll think about that one and post it up LOLOL.
Seriously, EVERYONE is welcome to ocme to dinner at my house; just show up with at least 12 hours warning and some good wine in hand.
Robt.

I am getting too many replies to my first post here. People wondering why I pick them. To answer and clarify I posted a link like this..

If you are signed in to DPC then this link will take you to your own profile....as that same link takes me to my profile. It is a little trick I learned a few weeks back thanks to skiprow I believe. If I am wrong someone correct me.
