Question, I just started experimenting with the DPC Prints 'referral program' and I noticed the following was recorded:

Order? Date Referred User To Page
YES 5 hours ago Guest / 209.90.*.* profile.php

Does that mean someone made a purchase after being referred by my link? now if that's the case, I am supposed to get 25% correct? how/where does one see the result? $$$ ???

If it has a YES against the purchase column in the referral report, then yes, you have a sale.
Your Sales report should show that you're getting 75% rather than 50% of the profits.

See here for more on what a page of my referral report looks like

Or 25% if the sale wasn't actually one of your prints.

Ah yes, indeed... good point... I have some of those too but I forget about them most of the time!

I don't believe the sale was one of mine. And I found out about it via the referral report. That's why I am curious. Does it take several days to show?

Also, is there a reason it doesn't show "referring" URL?

No, it should show AT THE BOTTOM of your sales report page.

There may not have been a referring URL - if the link you left somewhere was emailed on to someone, for example - but sometimes it doesn't seem to show URL even when the referral is definitely from a website... don't know why...

Does it take a while to show?

Does anything show in your sales history? If you got a referral fee it will show there.

Mine didn't, they showed up as soon as the referral record did, or at least they did for the one that I knew was being ordered and could check in almost real time as the order was placed.
I don't know if that was normal or whether the system updates at regular intervals and one of those just happened to fall when my friend placed her order.
The rest I didn't notice until a few days later and by then they were included in my sales report.

PS, it's no biggie and i know this is your thread but... probably don't need to repeat your sig each time you post in it... but it's up to you. since we both posted in that sigs debate thread i'm trying harder not to shove my sig down anyone's throats or repeat it unecessarily.

Jason,

The referral money does show up in your account immediately, but unfortunately you referred another user of the site who purchased one of their own 5x7s from their personal store, which there is no profit for.

Hope that clears things up,
Langdon

Ooh. Hadn't thought of _that_ scenario!

I had one of those....25% of nothing is nothing

Thanks langdon, that clears up the confusion. Makes total sense.

:)

Kavey, I try....it's just that DPC makes the signature "sticky". So if I checked it the last post. It's there this post. If I uncheck it. And forget it. It won't be in my next post.

I wish I could just have it be defaulted to on or off. And then check it as I please for individual posts.

Oh I know, I have same issue but... I'm trying hard.
I think I'd rather forget to put it back on occasionally than over-bombard people with it by forgetting to put it off!!!
:o)
