this is the first time I tried shooting a model (my wife).... good/bad?

I would do 2 things to it: 1º) put a reflector on the front of her, neat the tree, so that light could light a bit of the dark side of the face just a bit, and I would crop it withough so much tree in the right, so that she didn't be in the centre. Just my opinion.

O.K. - now you have a model - and a pretty one at that! Get her into the light. Shoot like you have a machine gun camera!! The more the merrier! This is a nice shot, but do more. Keep shooting. By the stream, by the lake, near the house. Shoot. shoot. shoot. You have a digital camera. When the card gets full, download it to your computer - and then shoot some more!! :) Hope this helps. :)

Did you shoot this in the middle of the day? It might help if you shoot in the morning or more towards dusk. This will help with the blown out sky. You certainly have a good subject.

we were on our way to the parents house and had an extra 5 minutes so we stopped at a park. around noon

Ask her to read this!! She is a very pretty model and you really need to take a ba-zillion photos of her! There will then be some that are perfect!! :)

WOW she is very pretty,,just keep shooting,,as they said earlier try different angles,different lighting,,just keep shooting and the better they will become
