I posted a thread earlier just fr some usual learning curve issues I thought; but I have now also realized that the latest update to FF is causing me huge issues and wondered if anyone else if having problems. I cannot get many features to work, install problems, everything. I did a complete uninstall and cleaned out the FF files and still no luck. Right now, I cannot get a new tab to open when I click on a bookmark. Anyone else? |

I haven't pulled the update down yet. Maybe I'll wait a little bit longer now. ;-/

I've not had any problems with it. Did you redownload or just reinstall? |

I initially just downloaded the update. Later I have actually uninstalled and cleared the files of all previous FF data. Now it looks like I have to do it all over again and it still probably won't work. |

If the issues are related to "Extensions", IIRC FF 1.0.4 disabled them. I had to remove them and re-install them. (there may be a better way to re-enable them, but I thought it was quicker to start over.) |

Hmmm....
I am running:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4
and have had no problems at all. Only 2 extensions, one of which didn't carry over. |

I haven't had a problem with it yet either other then when I click out of of the window, my computer will shut down and come back on. I had lost all my bookmarked sites when I go back on to firefox. Not sure what to do there.
Is there a way to save them because it has happened like 4 times so far. |

I had to spend a day in the FF forums and FAQ's to finally get it all resolved. It can be done, and for some, there is no initial trouble. Mine is stable now, but it took a while. |

Wondering if this is an issue with Windows XP users only.

Running Windows XP with Firefox 1.04. No problems, stable, all extensions work.
Sonifo: You can drag&drop your bookmarks to your desktop. It will create *.url files. Maybe they alreday are in a FF system folder and you just have to backup the folder.

Soni - you can also backup your whole FF Profile. I always keep a backup of bookmarks already - I am going to try Gloda's method as another way, too.

The easiest way to backup your bookmarks is to go to Bookmarks->Manage Bookmarks then File->Export. This will create a simple html file containing all your bookmarks which can then be re-imported at a later date if you need to.
Kylie. Fingers crossed that's all your problems sorted now. I have 1.0.4 running on several machines (Linux, WinXP and Win2k) and touch wood haven't had any trouble with any of them. |

I have been using it since it was available, no problems on either machine I have it installed on. I do have extensions installed on both as well.
One is on an XP machine (this one I am using now) and the other is a Win 98 machine.

Thanks! That is the way I back them up, too. I would have thought I was insane, except that the FF Forum is full of people having various issues with this build, paticularly their bookmarks (which I didn't). But I usre welcomed your help, and it made a huge difference.

ok i saw this post a little late, but anyway. When I updated to Firefox 1.04, I have now lost my scroll bar.
Guess I should revert back to 1.03

I just upgraded to 1.0.4 on my laptop and so far, no problems. I haven't updated the desktop or my office PC yet.
