I have been coming here for a few weeks and perusing. Then suddenly I register as a member and within hours, join as a member. In this short process I conjur up a few photos and enter my first 4 challenges. Two already judged (or in process) and two yet to be judged. I wait with great anticipation for the next challenge to be posted.

My point in this thread is this...I have never considered myself a photographer. Just someone who has a camera and likes to take pictures. I have never been one to alter my images by any means other than cropping. Hence I have tended to take pictures at odd angles or off perspectives or without regard to lighting - only with regard to what I see. This of course produces a lot of pictures that could have been taken 'better.' A lot of pictures that could be made better even with the most basic editing or post processing applied. A lot of images that could be made better with advanced editing techniques applied. And my opinion in this few short weeks has changed dramatically.

So to all of you who have left comments on my current photos available for view, thanks, I see your points very clearly and thanks again, I will use the tools available to me more effectively, and even thanks again since the edits I have done (so far for my eyes only) based on your suggestions have been far better photos.

But most importantly, to all of the photographers here, thanks! You have been an instant inspiration!

welcome Chris! I am sure you will become as addicted to this site as the next person. It is such a great community. You will make friends from all over the globe and learn ALOT in the process. I have never been one to become addicted to a site, but i have to tell you that this site is unbelievable. The funny thing is when i think about the people on DPC i get very teary. Their generosity is outstanding.
Enjoy your stay, enter many challenges and love what you do.
I look forward to seeing more of your work
Lisa
