My entry in the 'Late Night' challenge, confirmed to all the requirements of the challenge. It was titled 'Husband is a funny toy'. It was taken outside, late at night, and had a funny element to it. However, it got a low score (and comments, which mostly said that this does not conform to the challenge theme).
Should we not have a wider perspective?

people said that because you cannot tell that it was late at night, nothing in the shot tells us this.

But the same is also true for many other photographs.

I fixed your link.
I don't know, you just have to accept peoples opinions on this. They didn't (myself also) really see it as a Late Night shot. For me it wasn't the "time" factor as much as the subject. It didn't really grab me as being about late night.

Oh see you UNfixed the link. :)

The photograph was taken at a late night lawn-party!

Yeah I understand and certainly wasn't questioning the time of your shot. :)
I just was trying to say that it wasn't relayed to the viewer.

While you may have technically fulfilled the requirements of taking a photo outside, nothing about your photo conveys a feeling of outdoor night shot. It helps a photo if the challenge topic is the main impact rather than just a detail.

Just changing the title might have helped. "Coming Home from the Nightclub", for instance, just to give an immediate connection.

An image needs to be able to stand on its own. Don't be dependent upon the title to communicate your shot. That being said there's nothing subjectwise that helps your photo fit the challenge.
