Sigma EF500 DG Super or Sigma EF500 DG ST

There's about a $100 difference in price on B&H and I am unsure if the differences warrant the price difference for me. My camera is a 300D, which is what I shall be using until it ceases to function, which could take a good number of years. (At which point I will be moving to something similar to the 20D or whatever the equivalent will be at that time.)

Any thoughts?

I got a Speedlite 580EX from Beach Camera for like $360.

Have you looked at the promaster 7500DX digital? I like mine, and it's cheaper than a 420ex!

Thanks for the responses. (I guess)

What I am really looking for is which of the two VERY similar flashes would be the best purchase. One is listed for roughly $150 and the other for roughly $250 both US Dollars.

I would rather not buy the $150 model, if that means I will be missing out on some features that are very useful and compatible with my 300D. My 300D will be with me for as long as it operates, or something necesitates me upgrading to a more professional unit.

See question 2 on //www.sigmaphoto.com/faq/faq.asp?navigator=5 for the difference between these two flash units.

I have the 580EX with the Digital Rebel, and feel that the flash exposure compensation is very important (since the D-Rebel doesn't do it). Flash exposure lock is important, and flash exposure bracketing is very nice; there are also other features that I sometimes use.

The 500 DG Super seems to have these options, the 500 DG ST does not seem to have them. (Also, check to make sure Flash Exposure Lock works on the Digital Rebel.)

I don't think the ST will work with the Rebel. I forget what it lacks..ettl maybe? Read ALL the info about it and you should trip across the flaw, so to speak.

The Super model is the way to go. You can get it form a vendor on eBay for something like $170 if i recall. I was going that route but got a good deal on used a Metz 54 MZ4 instead.

FEC in the flash is nice, and I'm sure the Sigma does it. If not, FEC can be had with the rebel with on of the hacks (wasia or undutchables)
