My recent entry and first blue ribbon,  , received quite a lot of attention through word-of-mouth and now i've been offered a vague suggestion of £200 to use the image for publicity material for an opera production.
It was also suggested that if i could provide an image of a falcon taking wing, with the falconer's arm still visible, it would be even more suitable. Anyone got any tips for taking such a shot? I know a few falconries that would be of help, but does anyone have any experience with this sort of shot specifically? Should i try to keep the light in front of the falcon, to keep its eyes bright, or should i try to backlight it so the thin feathers in its wings glow?

Why not try several different setups? If you are getting the help from the falconries already you might as well get as many shots from different angles, lighting setups, etc.
I loved this photo BTW. It is very striking!

| Excellent, Eugene! After 7 months, I finally sold my first prints this week, too. They were sold at base price, so I made diddly/squat. I don't know whether to be thrilled at my first sale or disappointed that it took months to give away my highest-rated and most-favorited photo for "free." :-( |

Nonsense! You should definitely be thrilled that someone appreciates your work enough to actually pay to look at it!! If anything, that's a much greater compliment than someone buying your work to try to sell what they're producing.
