Well, actually, I guess it's a critique request on the picture, not the puppy! lol We got a new puppy a couple of weeks ago & I figured, what better subject to try to get some pictures of! Anyway, could use some advice on these and what to do to get good pet shots. (and yes, that's a cat thing she's laying in! lol) Thanks!

How cute. What's her/his name? I wanna little lap dog! Looks like a loveabel little friend.

I think the flash is a bit bright and makes the outside of the cathouse looked fried. Maybe try some shots with a better background when the pup is tired after playing. Also the 'romping' in the grass is always good with little dogs. Check out some dog photographer sites. Use a few props, kids, large toys etc.
just my 2cents.

Cute puppy. I've found direct flash is horrible for a lot of dogs. All my snapshots of my dog with on camera flash result in big ugly yellow eye (dog equivalent of red eye). If possible, use off camera flash or turn off the flash and use existing light.

Agreed-

Try to use natural light next time without flash. Maybe put the condo near a window.

Thanks. Her name is Casey. Is the pose, composition, etc. ok? Only the lighting that needs to be different?

Soften the light
Lose the red collar
You may want to try something very cliche with humans . . .:
Or the puppy look

What ever you do, make it quick because the do grow up
Same puppy as the last

If you puppy is bad, chewing on furniture, slipper, going after the garbage, I suggest you grab the camera instead of scolding, after you have immortalize the momment than correct the little one . . . as long as it's harmless of course.

Good luck
