This is my favorite lens - I can't say enough good things about it. I've used mine at the motocross track which is a very dusty environment and I haven't had any problems with mine yet. My sensor is dirtier than my lens.

I rarely put that thing on a tripod, hand held 95% of the time - even at the motocross track.

Congrats on the lens purchase - you made a great choice!

A month ago I purchased the 75-300IS lens but quickly returned it due to several factors. I am currently sitting on my deck waiting for the UPS guy to deliver the 100-400mm IS I ordered. Tracking # indicates its is on the truck for delivery.

I cannot wait for this glass to be delivered. Might be able the take a descent photo after all

When I bought the 20D, I also purchased a 70-200F4L for distance work and although I love this lens and the crisp pics you get with it, I soon found that I wanted a little more zoom capability, especially when I was asked to do some soccer shots.

I finally plumped for the Sigma 135-400 as it got good reviews and was very reasonably priced.I have found the quality of the images I`m getting with this lens to be better than I was expecting, but I must admit I would love to be able to upgrade to the Canon version after seeing the fantastic shots in this thread.I also find the IS on my 17-85mm lens a great advantage and would love to have this capability when shooting "still" subjects at 400mm.

Some Sigma shots..

These are very crisp pictures! I'm impressed with this lens. I've been saving for an "L" lens....and this Sigma seems to be great quality. Do you have any more pictures that you've taken with this lens?

I have a great number of "head and shoulder" sports shots as this is the reason I went for the lens originally..I`ve had very little chance to use the lens outside of sports work but I did find a couple of shots which I include below.
My apologies for "hijacking" the original content of the thread.. this is not my intention and as I intimated earlier, good value as the Sigma is, I would relish the chance to use the Canon equivalent, especially with IS capability.
