That image hosting is getting more and more crap advertising on it!
Its just so easy to use.
Any suggestions for another one that is a little more tastefull?
Pawdrix, i also cut it up on a white background, as if hung separately on a wall. Looks great! Pretend window!

For my "Sliptych" I just slapped three photos into one document in PS.
How do you guys do the different kinds of frames for triptychs where you use three different photos and for those like Pawdrix's cool fire escape shot using one photo. I suspect the methods are very different. I have Photoshop 7, but am not very good at it. I do have a good understanding of pixels.
Anybody kind enough to lay down some instructions for me? I love series-type photos, like the cats, and would like to try putting some together with decent frames.

I think someone needs to write a tutorial on DPC for this.

Welcome to dpc Ashish. Be sure to share some of your trials with us.
But remember that for challenge entries it is against the rules to use more than one image. And some voters may not think very highly of trip/dip images. There was a hot little controversy a while back when a triptych won a ribbon. Lots of people wanted the rules changed to ban them. So don't expect high votes from those people.
Good Luck in the challenges, your Minimalism entry is a promising start.

To clarify- people wanted that style of border banned- not that type of image. A small, but significant detail. :)

this is the photo in question. there's actually a pretty good write-up about how he created the triptych effect in the details of the photo, if you're interested.

I intially measured my image in thirds and and cropped out the two segments, sliding my crop/line window over to make sure they were the same size. I wound up ingnoring my 1/3 measurements because I didn't want to cut the dogs head off but it's close enough and the more pooch the better. Then I extended the bg border/canvas, to match the removed segments and so on.
I would like to do another and more like the ribbon winner with the borders around each pane but I don't know if that would work on my image because it's already busy.

I did one more for chuckles using what I understood from BradP's tutorial. Measuring is still hard with odd lengths.
Is it possible to change your "ruler" in PS to pixels or anything else?

Take note that the defining characteristic of a "Sliptych" is that it contains three "pains" and no border!

Just be careful - I was alsmost burned at the stake over that shot - LOL
And yes, pixels can be set as default (pixels easier in my opinion)
Edit, Preferences, Units & Rulers, and set rulers to pixels.

I almost did one for the apple challenge:

my first attempt, I probably did it the hard way, copying 2 of the 3 images as layers then flattening, and I know the whites are different.... I'll have to re-do this one again sometime. |
