ACK! Its a pigeon! Sorry for the misinformation.

From the lens to you. Man, I am soooooooooooooooo lucky.

What should I do with the speck by the wing, dust I think, or is it part of the other wing. So tempted to clone it out.

Ouch I am now starting to feel a kink in my neck from spending three hours in the cold :-(. Worth it though.

Okay updated as mentioned: 70 - 200mm F4L, every lousy shot I take from now will be my own fault :-).

Truly outstanding shot. One for the wall.

Great shot! I love it too. I love the way the light falls on the bottom wingtips. How far were you from the bird when you shot it and what kind of lens and focal length did you use?

I got lucky last week as well and got a great shot of a heron that was just sitting on a branch by the side of the road waiting for me to make a picture...and I did...50 of them lol.

I would clone out the spot near the wing. It's a bit distracting and looks like sensor dust. Keep up the great work.

Here is the male pigeon, the other is female.

Great shot, Michael! By all means, clone out the wing speck, and then as rblanton said, hang that shot on the wall.

Another suggestion, if you're so inclined: email that one in to Canon Picture-of-the-Day (link below), but do me a favor and wait until the end of the month so you won't compete with my shot, ok?! No I'm kidding, you go ahead and send it on in. I think this one's a winner.

By the way, you were right both times, since that bird is a feral pigeon, also known as a rock dove (before they were domesticated, I guess). Keep up the good work!
