Could somebody please solve this puzzle for me?

Quite some time ago, I changed some keyboard shortcuts (mostly F keys) to my liking and named that set âBeetle Keysâ (for example F3 is levels, F5 is hue/sat, F8 is smart sharpen etc).

Suddenly those shortcuts no longer work - they have reverted to what I think is the default set for photoshop. I have NO idea what changed, why they stopped working.
Here is what I have tried so far:

⢠restarted PS, rebooted computer
⢠checked the shortcuts â Beetle Keys is the active set, the individual changes are still showing , so it hasnât âforgottenâ them.
⢠changed to a default set, then back to mine again
⢠changed to a default workspace, as well as others
⢠checked my keyboard and its F-lock button, tried it both ways just to be sure
⢠changed some of the keys to something else, then back again
⢠re-checked that my set was still active

I now officially give up and bow to your greater knowledge.

Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Hi Karin -

Were these shortcuts PS specific or created with a keyboard utility?
If they were PS shortcuts, did you create them before you upgraded to PS-CS2? Is that when they stopped working?

They are PS shortcuts, changed via the preferences-keyboard shortcuts setup menu thingy.
They worked fine in CS2 for a while, then suddenly stopped and I can't think of anything that has changed that could have caused that.

Well, I checked Adobe support site - nothing specific enough. You could try posting a message on their user forum: //www.adobeforums.com/

Or try creating a whole new set?

Hard for me to help - PS7 doesn't have the capability far as I can tell. Sorry.

I did that to a minor extent. I chose a few different keys for it, then went back to my originals. The problem is that they ARE showing as if everything was right with it :-(

Thanks for trying, Ken.

As a former software tech support rep, I could offer one last suggestion: Uninstall and then Reinstall.

If that doesn't do it, then try the Adobe support forum or call the folks there and get your money's worth of assistance! ;-)

the dreaded uninstall/reinstall ........ *sigh*.... I was afraid it would come to that.
Perhaps I'll just do without the shortcuts for a while and hope for a miracle *s*

This was a long time ago, but the answer I most liked to give customers was "Uninstall your anti-virus protection. It is causing conflicts." :(

Hated that job, but had lots of fun making fun of it. ;-)
